dog sick please help

hi, our dog desi-mae has had what seems to be a sore throath...? and doesnt seem to feel well ?she is eating but not much, and seems to want it in small bites, rather than normal, and seems to have diffacult time breathing , for 3-4 days now. is ther anything to worry about!

Reply to Dr. Vamvakias's Post: thank you, for your reply.Desi is 3 yrs. old, shes a mix Beagle, boxer or pit, beagle....yeah i know its funny, shes a great dog though....a few days back she was trying to vomit/ but just a little flim, now she just coughs and makes sore troath sounds

 Well, the truth is in my opinion when you have respiratory issues...you need a vet.

They do get sore throats from infection as well as disease. The coughing needs to be determined if it is in the upper airway or chest...the prognosis is different.

The reason I asked about other dogs is kennel cough...is upper respiratory cough that can almost be honking.

We use pediatric cough suppressants to help...but if the cough is due to a lower airway problem the cough syrup can be deadly.

I think you need to get an exam on the dog to atleast determine location and severity of the respiratory problem.
