I was having difficulty getting this answer off, and it got answered on your other post.
In addition to the other answer, don't rule out a mild infection in the penile sheath. If it is that, you should see the bloody substances when you gently 'milk' the sheath.
Massengill's solution, in a syringe, like an ear bulb? or kitchen baister (Im not a cook) squirted into the sheath opening and 'sloshed' around will flush out all the debris and start him on the way to healing. Gently pinch the sheath closed after the squirt. Don't try to fill the pouch completely..leave enough room to slosh it around, and drain on it's own. You may repeat it if you wish.
This is more common than people recognize in male dogs. It probably should be done much more often, but that's not the way it goes.
