i purchased a 61/2 wk yorkie last thurs and sat found he sore ears, took him to the vet on mon and 2/3 one ear was off and slit 1/2 up on the other ear, he's on antibiotics, and irrigations we're trying to save the one ear, the vet feels it is from the breeder clipping ears up to try to get them to stand, any more suggestions? and what do you think the ears will look like

I think if you let the hair grow on the ears it won't matter much to you how they turn out. He'll still be cute in your eyes :)
He was awfully young to leave his mother but it sounds like a good thing he is not still there. If there were other pups you might want to report this to any local humane enforcement groups near you.
If it was a straight line cut it could be from someone trying to crop them and doing a bad job.
You need a skilled person to do ear cropping properly and preferably one licensed to do proper anaesthesia.
If you want the ears to stand and match you might ask your vet for a referral to a vet who does this surgery and does it right to see if they can be salvaged at all.
If you want to try and help them stand without doing anything to the skin or covering the ear opening you can (if there is fur left on the ears) glue the ears back to back by the hair on them only to help them support each other. Fabric glue is commonly used for this. Jiffy Sew is one product used for this.
Or you can check here for a taping procedure

But you could only do that after infections are cleared up.
Hope this helps you!

Reply to Nancy Holmes's Post: i really don't care if his ears stand he will be a family dog and not a show dog but it's for my daughter and she saw he before the ear was gone, do feel that it can costmetically be repaired, if so approx cost and referrals would be helpful. i'm not intending on getting rid of him he's already a part of the family but would like to do all i can

Pricing varies so much vet to vet and area to area that its hard to say.
I know last check in my area an initial ear crop might run around $250 from a vet who knew what he was doing. But elsewhere people can get a good job done for under $100 and in some places laser surgery is a top dollar solution costing several hundred. So you really have to ask in your own area.
This site lists vets in different state that boxer breeders feel do a good job of ear crop work. While its a bigger breed the boxer folks are pretty fussy so that might be a good choice of a referral for you if your own vet can't suggest someone

And it might be that nothing can be done depending on how badly the ears were cut.
If all fails then I think it might make your daughter love him even more if she knows he was saved from a not so great breeder's care. Ask your vet what would have happened if you weren't there to get him treated!
