my boxer is coughing and hacking

My boxer brutus has been coughing and hacking all night, I thought he might have something in his airway but I took him to the vet and he said he had an upper respitory infection. The vet I went to was not my normal vet and not very friendly towards me or brutus. anyway he really didn’t answer my questions just gave him an antibiotic shot and 4 different kinds of meds, I just want to know what to think about the situation, is brutus going to be allright, he’s still coughing alot.
