Just got a stray dog, boxer male 1 yr old (not fixed), and i currently have a 9 yr old male schnauzer (fixed). The schnauzer does not get along with anyone unless your in our home for an extended period. We introduced them last night and all seems well but now my normally agressive schnauzer seems afraid. Not sure if this is normal. What should I expect?

In pack structure bigger and intact is dominant over smaller and neutered.
Thats a generality of course and all dogs are individuals, but your dog may be responding to the stray dog's size, testosterone odor, and doggy body posture signals you are not seeing indicating the dog's attitude.
Ordinarially your dog would have the advantage of being on home turf and being older but he might not be feeling as healthy and strong as he did when he was younger too.
If you keep the younger dog you may want to get him neutered. But if your older dog is showing obvious fear signs I'd not leave them alone together but would separate them instead.
Hope this helps you!

Relist: I still need help.
If i neuter the younger dog (which I am planning to do) will the relationship change? Will my mini schnauzer attemp to become more dominant? I don't think he is fearing for his life, he actually started to walk by the younger dog, when before he would wait for him to leave the room first. My schnauzer just seems a little careful. Will this go away?
Thanks for your help!
