My dog has multiple symptoms and I'm not sure if they're related. He went to the vet, along with my other maltese 2 days ago and received an antihistamine for sneezing and hacking and runny nose. Last night he was up alot coughing so the vet prescribed something else for that. Today his urine has been almost completely colorless and I worry that my vet may be missing something. Could all those symptoms be related to something serious? He's always been a bit on the fragile side with a quite a few bouts of gastroenteritis so I may just be becoming a compulsive worrier. Should I have him examined by another vet?

Hi Jane,

It sounds like your little guy has an upper respiratory infection such as kennel cough or canine influenza. The antifhistamine and cough medication should take care of that issue though it may take a couple of weeks to recover fully. You can read about these here:

The more a dog drinks the more diluted the urine will become, so if he's been drinking alot you would see diluted urine. At this point, I wouldn't worry too much. If you don't see any improvement in your dog's condition after 3-4 days, then you will want to have him seen again. I hope this helps.
