What is the bald spot on my dog's leg?

My dog is a small breed. He has a bald spot like a shaven spot on his right hind leg. It is about one inch long by quater inch wide located around his knee area. He doesnt seem to be in pain and I have not seen him scratch the spot. We bathe him regulary. He stays outside for most of the day and sleeps indoors.
