I just noticed a rather large swelling in my dogs neck. His behavior has changed so much ( not moving much) that I found an open Vet last Sunday . After the blood work was normal and the organ function test was normal he said it must be arthritis. The pain pills did make him move around a little more. Now after almost a week I noticed this swelling that appears to be filled with fluid in his neck below his jaw on the right side. Please advise what to do.

Reply to ZooCVT's Post: He is 81/2 years old. There was no lump when I took him to the vet last Sunday.

Reply to ZooCVT's Post: They did not give fluids- just did blood work. The vet did his exam in the blood lab where i was present. I think he was dehydrated because his face looked thin and he was not drinking at the time.
He did eat his dinner tonight.

It may be a couple things. One is, though it has been a bit of time, is a hematoma from where they drew the blood. Another is a swollen lymph node. There's alsothe chance that they did give fluids under his skin and didn't tell you and the fluids are absorbing slowly. They will disperse as they are being absorbed but sometimes, from the weight of the fluids under the skin..gravity will make them shift. There's also the chance that it has nothing to do with the vet visit and he got a spider or bug bite that was making him feel off to begin with and has now abscessed. At any rate, a vet visit is needed to check itout and determine what it is.
