my 6 week old puppy start puking a white liquid acting very slugish is this serious or is this because the food the first person who had her gave her a different kind of food she is shaking from time to time like she is cold what can i do

Dr. Debbie:Has your chihuahua had her first vaccinations yet?

Dr. Debbie:She should have them at 6, 9, and 12 weeks.
Dr. Debbie:6 weeks is sort of early for a chihuahua to go to a new home
Dr. Debbie:Has she had a bowel movement today?

Dr. Debbie:What about any bowel movement today?
Dr. Debbie:If she had one, was it normal or diarrhea?
Customer (name blocked for privacy):she had only one bowel movement but she will not eat she urin a few times but thats about it

Dr. Debbie:Parvovirus would be the major concern
Dr. Debbie:and that exhibits with vomiting and diarrhea and refusal to eat.
Dr. Debbie:This can be deadly so if you see any diarrhea I would get to the vet ASAP and let them test her for parvovirus
Dr. Debbie:I would take her to the vet first thing in the morning irregardless
Dr. Debbie:but if she becomes more listless tonight or vomits again, or has diarrhea, I would take her to an emergency clinic tonight.

Dr. Debbie:I would keep her warm tonight by wrapping her up
Dr. Debbie:and I would go ahead and get some karo syrup and rub that on her gums - just massage it on there incase she has low blood glucose which is common in chihuahuas of that age. I think she could have either hypoglycemia or parvovirus.
Dr. Debbie:If it is hypoglycemia, the karo syrup will make her feel better in about 30 - 60 minutes.
