possible heart worms??
Sent to Dog Experts July 16 05:49 PM

I have a 41/2 year old spayed Beagle/Blue Tick. She is very overweight (47 pounds). She had a litter of pups at 1 year old( a stray male got in our fence ( our neighbor's Black and Tan), what a determined bugger!) . She had 8 very healthy pups who were adopted out. She never lost her puppy weight! We took her to the SPCA to get her spayed and chipped as soon as her milk dried up. She gets her 7 way shots and Rabies every April. She has developed a gagging type cough for the last year. It kind of sounds like she is tring to cough up a hair ball like a cat. She has always gotten her Frontline Plus, but I have never given her any heartworm meds. We live in the south. Does this sound like a heartworm problem? I have also given her Homeo Pet Worm Clear ( bought from PetMeds.com) every 3 months. This is supposed to cure and prevent Hook, Round, and Tape worms. I also have a 12 year old Dalamtion in perfect health and a 3 year old Rat Terrier. Both are males neuteredand chipped. They both have very good health, very active, and show none of the same symptoms as the female Beagle. Please respond soon with your opinions. Thank you for your time.
