Hi

I would dearly love to be able to give you a quick home fix here but I’m not sure I can. Three days of not eating is too long to let things go undiagnosed/treated, let alone another few days more.

Because they both took ill at the same time I would suspect this to be a viral infection. Viral gastroenteritis. It won’t be worms. Worms rarely causes inappetence and certainly wouldn’t appear fast and simultaneously in both dogs.

If the vomiting persists for too long, dehydration could be a big issue. Check to see they are drinking ample fluids and not vomiting it back again. If they are drinking you could add some glucose to the water to provide energy. Do not start solid food until you are sure the vomiting has stopped because it could make the vomiting worse. If the vomiting has ceased and they are drinking you could restart the feeding with something light and non-fatty. Perhaps some boiled rice mixed with a small amount of cooked lean meat (chicken). The diarrhea is not such an urgent issue as the vomiting. It may persist a little longer.

I hope this provides some help. Watch them carefully and do your best to get them to the vet if they don’t improve quickly.

Good luck, Peter
