How can you tell if a hamster is in pain ? Our hamster seems to have developed a very large growth, internally - either a tumor or some kind of swellling on one side of its body. She is still eating, but not moving very well. She is only 18 months old ... but am considering euthanasia.
Thanks.
Nancy

Tumors are very common in hamsters and this certainly sounds like what it is. I know you say she is only 18 mo. old but their life span is normally only 2 years- sad but true. In all likelihood euthanasia is going to be your best and only humane choice. You can take her to the vet for an exam but I would prepare myself for the worst.
