I have a 4 year old female rottweiler that i have had sence she was 8 weeks. she is very well behaved but she is alfa female around the house ( i live alone ) , I was wanting to get a secound rottweiler, i was looking at a rescue dog so it would be fixed. I was consernd at what might hapen, introdusing a new dog. i can see it going both ways. but i wondered what someone with more experience then me in this area would say. Also.. last month i dogsitted my doughters toy..something.. (male) for a week with no problems.

Hello, I think if you can get a male rescue that has been neutered and possibly on the submissive side it will work. Two females together will be bad news even if one or both are fixed. Females tend to but heads and want to dominate each other more than a male would. Males tend to back down to a Alpha female most of the time and if you can get a submissive male you should be fine. Introductions should go slow at first with both of them being introduced on a leash and both of them being told that they are good for acting well towards each other. Then gradually letting them get together and play possibly on neutral grounds for a little while and then taking them back to the house for a little while. If you are the Alpha in the house that will help as well as your female will obey you and listen to you. Showing equal affection as well will keep one or the other from being jealous and getting made and trying to compete for your affection. I think if you go slow with introductions and get a submissive male and not a head strong male it will make your life and your babies lives easier. I hope this will help you but if you need anything else be sure to let me know.
