I have a siberian husky and he had some dried blood on the edge of his ear, I thought he had hit his head when he was coming in the back door. But now a few days have gone by and the dried blood and fur have fallen off and it looks like when he had an infected gland. Is that possible in the ear?

There are glands in the ear. They are called ceruminous glands. The most likely thing is that he injured the ear while he was outside and it has scabbed and now is healing. I assume that it could be something more serious like a type of cancer, but if the ear seems to be healing, thing I would not be too concerned. If the ear continues to be red and inflammed and not wanting to heal, then I would seek the attention of your veterinarian. Please reply with questions, if none, then good luck with your boy.

He had an infected gland on his tail around his anus before and we had it removed. That is what it looks like, now that the dried blood has come off there really isn't any redness. He will now let me touch the ear where he wouldn't before. Do you still feel that it is maybe just swelling from the injury. He is primarily an inside dog; however, we have a female husky also and they sometimes can play kind of rough with each other. Thanks for your input.
