4 yr. old terrier has croupy cough at night; worries me regarding airway obstruction but shortly he stops and seems okay. Humidifier helpful (like with kids with croup sitting outside with sprinklers on easing their cough?)   I worry also about collapsing trachaea.

Optional Information:
Age: 4; Male; Breed: tibetan terrier we think

Already Tried:
petting him, being calm and quiet, reassuring him, offering water (which he doesn't drink until the fit has passed)

On second thought perhaps cough is the wrong description of what he does; we think it is an inspiratory wheeze that finishes with a kind of paroxysm so that his whole body heaves. He is not overweight. He is still eating. This happens when he is relaxed, not active. He did have an injection for tapeworms 10 days or so ago but this was happening before that. We had him seen 6 wks ago for this and they put him on a course of antibiotics (which my daughter says she thinks may have helped a bit but results were equivocal). Any ideas?
