(Not a Dog Question?)

trembling and yelping not characteristic of my dog

I have a 4 year old rat terrier who is a bit of a "mama's girl" but usually does fine with guests and is able to stay at others' homes (who also have dogs) when my husband and I travel. This past week she has been displaying very odd behavior. When I get home after she has been in her crate for some time, she trembles uncontrollably and will let out yelps sometimes when I pick her up and sometimes if I am just next to her not even touching. There have been some severe thunderstorms and she has displayed trembling in the past during storms, so I am wondering if it could be that. Also, I am 7.5 months pregnant and am wondering if this could have something to do with it. I am concerned that it could be something physical, but she has been eating fine, going to the bathroom, sleeping regularly. Also, this only happens in stages, it comes and goes, sometime she is fine. So I don't know what these symptoms could be indicative of.
